Install XPe EWF

Use Windows XP Embedded “Enhanced Write Filter” to prolong the life of flash disks

Be sure you are using IDE master for target disk, edit ewf.reg “ArcName” as necessary. Does not work with SCSI disks

1. ewfntldr -> C:ntldr (read-only, hidden, system attributes are not important)
2. ewf.sys -> %WINDIR%system32Drivers
3. ewf*.dll, ewfmgr.exe -> %WINDIR%system32
4. Edit registry using REGEDT32.EXE: allow “Full Control” for “Everybody” to HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetEnumRoot
5. Merge ewf.reg into Windows Registry (double click on it)
6. Reverse permission change in step 3
7. Reboot, ewfmgr c: should say something interesting
